Great Comedy for Adults and Mature Kids When You’re on the Edge

I know I’m coming to this late because Schitt’s Creek just won seven primetime awards and nine Emmys in all, but if you like offbeat humor, this show is for you. The premise reminds me a little of one of my favorite shows in the world Arrested Development in that it follows a dysfunctional, entitled family through their fall from grace. I’m attracted to shows about pathological families (think Transparent), so the raw humor is appealing to me (and apparently many others, considering the recent Emmy sweep). Here, the family loses their fortune and are forced to relocate to Schitt’s Creek, a small town they once purchased as a joke. Bedlam ensues. The characters are obscenely self-absorbed and yet… they seem to have some love for each other.

If you are thinking of watching with kids, be aware of some sexual innuendos and vulgar language. Here’s the Common Sense Media review.
